Connecting rod bushing Mazda R2, RF 1998-2184cc ACL The big end bushing is a piece of metal tube that is pressed into the connecting rod head and is adjacent to the piston pin. It works in extreme conditions as a sliding bearing. The use of oil with the wrong viscosity, oil deficiency, low pressure in the lubrication system, too much load on a cold engine, neglect of oil change intervals or incorrect mounting of the connecting rod cause excessive load on the bushings, their faster wear. a knocking noise at idle indicates that the bushing must be replaced immediately. Delaying replacement can lead to the element seizing up, causing damage to the entire connecting rod.
