The Blow Off Turbosmart controller is an electronic device that controls the Blow Off pressure signal. It works by detecting a negative voltage change in the throttle position. It then energizes the solenoid to deflate all air from the Blow off cap, causing a pressure differential between the piston and the cap to displace pressure from the intake system. Large diesel engines with larger turbochargers can experience a sharp skid on the turbocharger as it descends. The slowness of the engine can be a restriction on the turbocharger outlet causing it to skid. This can be devastating on a turbo system that produces large amounts of boost. The controller can vent this pressure build-up to protect the turbocharger. This can prevent turbocharger repairs as well as improve acceleration between gears. The Race Port series is famous for its surprisingly small and light valves for turbocharged engines.
