Cometic MLX (multi-layer stopper) head gaskets are made of the same materials as MLS gaskets, i.e. three or four layers of acid-resistant steel. The outer layers are extruded from Viton coated stainless steel for perfect sealing and corrosion resistance. The "Stopper" technology consisting in an additional folding of the middle layer has a positive effect on the sealing properties of the gasket in the vicinity of the chamber. This design allows for the greater pressure of the head bolt to be directed towards the cylinder walls. Cometic gaskets do not require re-tightening of the cylinder head bolts after the gasket has collapsed or the use of additional sealants or adhesives.
